A decorative display typeface.
GUAPA was born from a personal experiment: transforming a geometric sans serif “à la Futura” into a charming post-modern Deco design. It was applied in a poster specially designed for a typography exhibition called Pimp the Type. Later it became a well-suited typeface for texts: from magazine titles to books, record covers and packaging. The family initially consisted of one single weight, provided with Discretionary Ligatures, Alternative Characters, Swashes Forms, Initials and some Stylistic Sets.
Recently I have added a new font called GuapaDecó, that goes a bit further in this exploration of expressivity through adding contrast and some serifs. In the future there will be a cyrillic update, developed with the help of Irina Smirnova.
GUAPA is fancy, delicious and fresh!
