The logotype and the symbol
The design process started by sketching the logotype and the symbol with a brush marker pen. I wanted to mimic the attitude of many of the tribute documents that people left at La Rambla, this is why it is based in simple casual writing. The use of the olive branch as a symbol of peace in Western civilization dates at least to the 5th century BC Greece. It gives more identity to the sentence as a whole.

As it is usual in my lettering works, I write, write and write the sentence, again and again, later I chose the best words and make a collage. The one on top is the final result and the logotype below shows the digitalization.
The Ajuntament wanted to keep the logo as it was, as an image where you can see the trace and the transparency of the ink, but this may not work for a billboard or big applications. So, consequently I prepared a digitized version, that is almost identical but still casual.
